1. I am having difficulty logging into my account. What can I do?

If you are having difficulty signing into your account then first please try changing your password to something more memorable. Enter the email address you registered with into the form on this page and you will be sent a link in an email which will allow you to choose a new password. If you do not receive an email then please check your junk mail and make sure you add us to your safe list.


2. What is the difference between ‘Graded Lessons’ and ‘Tutorials for All’?

‘Graded Lessons’ are level specific lessons. Once a week there will be a lesson designed specifically for each of the five levels. Your level is only a guideline – you DO NOT need to be signed up at Level 2 to sit in on a Level 2 lesson, for example.

‘Tutorials for All’ are classes that will be of more broad interest. For example, ‘History and Repertoire’ will not require you to play at a given standard.


3. Why am I not receiving much individual attention?

A major strength of this service is that students are able to view lessons ‘On Demand’. Lessons and courses are structured in such a way as to make coherent viewing later. Students are encouraged, therefore, to engage with instructors via the ‘Chat’ instant messaging function within Adobe Connect. Instructors are then able to address questions without breaking the continuity of the lessons format.

While it is possible to bring up students webcams into a shared space for all to see, this will be kept to a minimum. Students wishing individual attention are encouraged to book a one-to-one Skype session. The online booking form for this is here.


4. How long are lessons?

Lessons will be approximately 45 minutes.


5. Do I need to have any special software installed?

No, you do need require any additional software. The lesson hosting service Adobe Connect will deploy when you click to enter a class room, meaning no downloading or installation required.


6. Can I only subscribe at the start of a 16 week term?

No, you can subscribe at any time during the 16 week term. As soon as you subscribe you will have access to all lessons that have taken place during the current term, allowing you to catch-up in your own time if you wish.
