Mrs MacDonald of Dunach, The Caledonian Canal, The Grey Bob
This set is a little ‘lighter’ than some of the others in the series, however, each tune is very good in its own way. Mrs MacDonald of Dunach (Willie Ross Vol. 1) is unusual for a ‘competition’ 2/4 march in that it’s in the D major key. The Caledonian Canal (Willie Ross Vol. 3) is often taught as the first four-parted strathspey for learners, and Colonel MacLeod (Willie Ross Vol 4) continues to be popular in the lower pipe band grades.
