This event in history dates back to 1452, when Donald Garbh MacIver plotted to seize the Earl of Ross. However, the plan was discoved and MacIver ended up inprisoned in Dingwall Castle by the Lord of the Isles’ followers. With the subsequent rescue of MacIver, by his men, and the abduction of the Earl of Ross’s relative (Alexander Ross) as a reprisal, a boodly battle was fought where hundreds lost their lives.
